Irish Oatcakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    3 c. oatmeal
    1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Mix in oatmeal.
    Sift flour and salt, adding to creamed mixture alternately with baking soda dissolved in the half cup of hot water.
    Roll thin, cut and bake at 350\u00b0 for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
