Golden Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. shortening, soft
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients into bowl.
    Add egg, milk and shortening.
    Beat with eggbeater until smooth, about 1 minute.
    Do not overbeat.
    Bake in greased 8-inch square pan in hot oven (425\u00b0) for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Yields 9 servings.
