Crock-Pot Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 ham bone or smoked ham hock
    1 lb. green split peas
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 c. diced carrots
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    6 c. water
Preparation
    Place all ingredients in a slow cooker (crock-pot) and cover. Turn heat to low.
    Cook 10 to 12 hours until peas are softened. Cut meat away from ham hock and add to soup.
    Makes 12 (1 cup) servings.
