Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

1 qt. strawberries, halved
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 1/3 c. Bisquick
3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
3 Tbsp. melted margarine
1/2 c. milk
1 Tbsp. softened margarine
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. sliced almonds
whipped topping or whipped cream
Preparation

Heat oven to 425\u00b0.
Mix strawberries and 1/2 cup granulated sugar; reserve.
Mix baking mix, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons margarine and milk until soft dough forms.
Spread in an ungreased round pan, 8 x 1 1/2-inch.
Spread with 1 tablespoon margarine; sprinkle with brown sugar and almonds.
Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool 10 minutes. Split layer horizontally.
Place bottom layer on serving plate. Top with half of strawberries and a layer of topping.
Top with another layer and remaining strawberries.
Garnish with topping. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
