Cherry Pecan Gems - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter, soft
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. cherry syrup
    1/4 tsp. almond extract
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 c. chopped nuts
    cherries, halved
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Blend in egg, syrup and extract.
    Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
    Stir into creamed mixture; stir in nuts.
    Shape dough into 9-inch roll. Wrap in waxed paper.
    Chill well.
    Cut into 1/4 inch slices.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Lightly press a well drained red cherry half in center of each cookie.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
