Pumpkin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. shortening (margarine)
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 c. canned pumpkin
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. lemon or vanilla flavoring
    2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. walnuts, chopped (black or English)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add flavoring and eggs.
    Sift together flour, spices, salt and baking powder.
    Add alternately to first mixture with pumpkin.
    Add nuts last.
    Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Cool on rack and ice with lemon or orange flavoring if desired.
