Tomato (Indian) Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 ripe tomatoes
    1 red pepper
    12 tart apples
    9 onions (medium-size)
    5 c. vinegar
    3 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground mustard
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. pepper
    4 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Skin and chop tomatoes.
    Peel, core and chop apples.
    Chop onions.
    Coarsely chop red pepper.
    Put all ingredients in kettle. Heat to boiling point and then simmer 3 to 4 hours, stirring frequently.
    Bottle and seal in sterilized jars.
