Mom'S Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar or 3/4 c. white sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. blackberry jam
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2/3 tsp. nutmeg
    2/3 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs and beat well.
    Add sifted ingredients alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
    Add jam and beat well.
    Bake in lightly greased and floured pan in 350\u00b0 oven for about 45 minutes or until done.
