Vinegar Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 1/2 c. hot water
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    4 or 5 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. oleo
    2 eggs, separated
    1 (8-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation
    Mix 1 1/4 cups sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan.
    Stir in water, vinegar, and butter.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.
    Remove from heat.
    In a small dish, beat egg yolks into a small amount of mixture, then add this back to the saucepan.
    Return to heat and cook 3 minutes more.
    Pour into the pie shell.
    Cool.
    In a medium bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar; gradually add the other 1/4 cup sugar.
    Beat until stiff. Spread over pie and bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
