Barley Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. fine pearl barley (quick)
    1 medium onion
    1/2 oz. slivered almonds
    1 (2 oz.) pkg. onion soup mix
    1 can chicken broth + water or mushroom juice to equal 2 c.
    1 small jar sliced mushrooms
    1 can sliced water chestnuts
Preparation
    Saute barley and onion in butter until barley is light brown. Add other ingredients.
    Stir well and pour into greased dish. Cover and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour, adding water if needed.
    Or microwave on High for 15 to 20 minutes.
