Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. dark corn syrup
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. light cream
    1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Butter sides of a heavy 2-quart saucepan.
    In it, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter and 1/2 cup of the cream.
    Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly.
    Slowly stir in the remaining 1/2 cup of cream.
    Cook over low heat to medium ball stage, stirring almost constantly.
    Remove from heat; add nuts and vanilla.
    Pour in the buttered 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan.
    Mark into 32 squares, when partially cool.
    When cold, cut and wrap.
    Store in an airtight container.
