Henrietta Hunt Morgan'S Black Cake(Lexington Recipe) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

12 eggs
1 lb. sugar
1 lb. flour
1 lb. butter
1 lb. currants
4 lb. raisins, seeded and split
3/4 lb. citron
1 lb. candied fruit
1 lb. preserved ginger
1 lb. almonds, blanched
1/2 coffee cup cinnamon
1/2 coffee cup grated nutmeg
1/2 coffee cup golden syrup
1 level tsp. soda
1 tumbler good whiskey
Preparation

Mix one tablespoon of flour, one teaspoon salt, one teaspoon mustard, one tablespoon sugar and a speck of cayenne pepper.
Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter, two egg yolks and three fourths cup of milk.
Cook in a double boiler until it thickens, stirring constantly.
Then add three tablespoons of vinegar and boil one minute.
