Dandylicious Chocolate Chip Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 eggs, beaten
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    2 c. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    In a saucepan, melt shortening over medium heat.
    Stir in brown sugar.
    Cool slightly.
    Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add gradually with eggs to shortening mixture.
    Stir in the vanilla, chips and nuts.
    Batter will be very stiff.
    Spread into a greased and floured oblong pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cut into squares while warm.
