Potato Dauphinoe'S - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1 stick butter
    Salt and white pepper to taste
    3 lb. baking potatoes
    8 cloves garlic
    1 c. heavy cream
    Cheddar cheese, grated
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in heavy pan and slowly bring to a boil.
    Peel and thinly slice potatoes and add to hot milk.
    Add garlic and cream.
    Slowly bring to a boil.
    Simmer 15 minutes. Place potatoes in a well-buttered casserole.
    Bake in 325 degree oven until sauce has thickened.
    Sprinkle with cheese and bake until cheese has melted.
