Savory Pilaf - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. long grain rice (white or brown)
1 chicken bouillon cube
1/4 c. margarine
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. sliced mushrooms (2 1/2 oz. jar), drained
1/4 c. water chestnuts, sliced (optional)
1 c. wheat bran cereal
1/4 tsp. ground sage
1/4 tsp. basil leaves
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. water
Preparation

Cook rice according to package directions (don't use salt or butter).
Substitute the bouillon cube.
While rice cooks, melt butter in large skillet.
Add onion, celery, mushrooms and water chestnuts.
Cook over medium heat (stir several times) until celery is almost tender.
Gently add cooked rice, sage, cereal, basil, pepper and water.
Cover and cook over very low heat about 15 minutes.
Serve immediately.
