Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 eggs, separated
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 to 2 Tbsp. rum extract
    1/2 c. whipping cream, whipped
    nutmeg to taste
Preparation
    In a large saucepan, beat egg yolks and 1/3 cup sugar until blended.
    Add salt and milk.
    Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens slightly and coats spoon, about 25 minutes.
    Cool.
    Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Gradually beat in 3 tablespoons sugar; continue beating until soft peaks form. Fold egg whites into egg yolk mixture.
    Add vanilla and rum extract, then chill 3 to 4 hours.
    Pour into cups; top with whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg.
    Serves 8.
