Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. hot water with 1 tsp. soda poured over
2 c. cut-up dates
1 c. nuts
2 c. flour
1/2 c. milk
Preparation

Pour 1/2 cup hot water with 1 teaspoon of soda over the 2 cups chopped dates.
Meanwhile, cream the shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, beaten, one at a time with the shortening and sugar.
Sift the flour and stir in the nuts.
Add date mixture, milk and dry ingredients alternately with the sugar and shortening mixture. Bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
