Middle Eastern Meat Patties(Makes 8 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large potatoes
    1 lb. ground beef (mixture of lean/fat works best)
    1 medium onion, grated fine (use juice)
    1 can stewed tomatoes
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 tsp. turmeric (your favorite seasoning may be used)
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
    1 egg
Preparation
    Grate potatoes (drain all water from potatoes) and set aside. In a bowl, combine meat, egg, onion, potatoes, salt, pepper and turmeric.
    Knead for 10 minutes to form a smooth paste.
    Using damp hands, shape mixture into lumps the size of an egg.
    Flatten and brown on both sides in a skillet in 1/2 cup oil over medium heat (making sure potato is cooked).
    add more oil if necessary.
