Spiced Cider Bowl - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cider
    1/2 c. light brown sugar (packed)
    8 to 10 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
    10 to 15 whole allspice
    20 to 25 whole cloves
    10 small red apples
Preparation
    Do Ahead:
    In a 6-quart kettle, bring all ingredients, except apples, to a boil.
    Simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes.
    Strain through double layer of cheesecloth.
    Refrigerate cider until needed.
