Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. molasses
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Cook molasses, sugar and water in a heavy kettle slowly until the mixture reaches 260\u00b0 or a little of the mixture dropped in cold water becomes brittle.
    Stir a little during the latter part of the boiling to prevent burning.
    Pour into a buttered pan.
    When cool enough to handle, cut in pieces and pull until light and stiff.
    Butter the hands before pulling.
