Afternoon Chocolate - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, grated
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 qt. water
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 1/2 qt. milk, scalded and divided
    whipped cream
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients in a Dutch oven. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
    Cool. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup milk, stirring well. Add cornstarch mixture and remaining milk to reserved chocolate mixture.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thoroughly heated.
    Pour into cups and serve immediately with a dollop of whipped cream.
    Makes 3 quarts.
