Date Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. chopped dates
    1 heaping qt. chopped pecans
    1 c. plain flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 eggs, separated
    1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, then sift over dates and pecans.
    Melt butter and add with vanilla.
    Mix. Beat egg yolks until smooth.
    Add to butter and vanilla; mix well. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in very gently.
    Pour into greased and lined tube pan.
    Bake at 275\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
