Colonial Poppy Seed Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 jar poppy seed (1/2 c. or 2 oz.)
    3/4 c. milk
    3/4 c. soft butter
    3 eggs
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine seed and milk in a large bowl and let stand at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours.
    Take out butter to soften or use a microwave to soften, not melt.
    Add other ingredients to milk and seed.
    Beat at medium speed for 1 minute or so.
    Pour into a greased and floured loaf pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    Top will be browned and the center will spring back when touched to check doneness.
    Cool 10 minutes and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
    Makes one loaf.
