Red Hot Pickles(Like Candy Apples) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. cucumbers, peeled, cored and sliced
    2 c. lime
    8 1/2 qt. water
    1 c. red apple cider vinegar
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 Tbsp. alum
    2 c. red apple cider vinegar
    2 c. water
    10 c. sugar
    1 pkg. red hots
    2 to 8 sticks cinnamon
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers with lime and 8 1/2 quarts water.
    Set 24 hours.
    Drain and wash.
    Soak in cold water 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Drain.
    Simmer cucumbers in next 3 ingredients with enough water to cover cucumbers for 2 hour.
    Drain and throw away liquid.
    Bring next 5 ingredients to boil.
    Add cucumbers.
    Set overnight.
    Drain and reheat syrup 3 times (morning, evening and next morning).
    On third day, pack and seal.
    Process 5 to 10 minutes.
