Old-Fashioned Pole Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. fresh pole beans
    1 (1/2 lb.) ham hock
    5 c. water
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Clean and remove strings from beans; cut beans into 2-inch pieces.
    Place ham hock in water in Dutch oven; bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 1 hour.
    Add beans, salt and pepper; continue cooking for 45 minutes or until tender.
    Yield: 10 to 12 servings.
