Rancho Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. ketchup
    2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1 can lean kidney beans
    2 lb. can pork and beans, drained
Preparation
    Heat a small amount of oil over medium heat in skillet.
    Add sliced apples (with or without peel). Sweeten to taste with half brown sugar and half white granulated sugar.
    Cook, covered, until sugar is melted. Uncover and cook until apples are tender and most of the liquid evaporated.
    Do not overcook or apples will be mushy.
