"Sunshine Cake" - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 eggs, separated (you'll use both the whites and yolks in this cake)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. lemon or orange extract
Preparation

Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored, then wash and thoroughly dry the beaters.
Don't have a speck of egg yolk in the white or they are apt not to beat stiff.
Beat egg whites until they form peaks, then add cream of tartar.
Make a syrup with the sugar and water.
Cook the syrup until it spins a hair.
Beating the egg whites on high speed pour the hot syrup into the egg whites in a very fine stream.
Reduce the speed to as slow as possible and add the beaten egg yolks (slowly), then add the vanilla.
Sift the flour and salt together and add, beating as little as possible. Bake in ungreased tube pan for one hour at 325\u00b0.
Remove from oven, invert pan for one hour on a cake rack.
It is good with a marshmallow icing or just a glaze.
