"Jiffy" Steamed Syrup Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. Jiffy yellow cake mix (or any brand that will make a 1-layer cake)
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. stale bread crumbs, ground fine
    1 c. dark raisins
    1 c. seeded Muscat raisins
    1/2 c. candied orange peel
    1/2 c. citron peel
    1 c. candied cherries, cut in half
    2 c. walnuts, almonds or pecans, chopped
    1 c. figs, sliced (with scissors)
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. fresh crushed cloves
    grated rind of 1 lemon
    1 c. apple cider
    3 eggs
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Put bread crumbs in an enormous bowl, add fruit and nuts and mix well with fingers so that each piece is coated with the crumbs. Sprinkle next 4 ingredients over all.
