Chopped Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. green tomatoes
    6 onions
    2 green sweet peppers
    1/2 head medium size cabbage
    1 c. chopped celery
    1/2 c. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
Preparation
    Chop all ingredients and sprinkle salt and let stand overnight.
    Next morning, drain and wash in cold water.
    Cook sugar, vinegar, water and spices (wrapped in cheesecloth) for about 5 minutes, then add well drained ingredients.
    Cook until tender, about 1/2 hour.
    Put in hot jars; fill with juice and seal.
