Ingredients

1 c. sugar
6 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 qt. milk
Preparation

In heavy frying pan, heat 1 cup sugar.
Do not stir or touch until brown.
Turn off stove and mix until melted.
Pour into 2-quart deep dish casserole; set aside.
Heat milk in saucepan on low.
In another bowl beat eggs with 1/2 cup sugar, salt and vanilla.
Add to milk gradually; mix.
Pour over caramel in casserole.
Place in large pan filled with water and bake at 325\u00b0 for 2 hours.
Cool and refrigerate.
