Mom'S Corned Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 lb. corned beef
    3 sliced onions
    3 whole cloves
    6 peppercorns
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 garlic clove
    1 stalk celery
    2 sprigs parsley
    1 head cabbage, cut up
    8 to 12 red potatoes
Preparation
    Put meat in pot; pour cold water to cover.
    Add all other ingredients except potatoes.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer 3 1/2 to 5 hours.
    Approximately 45 minutes before meat is done, add potatoes.
