Cherry Pudding Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1/2 c. water
    1 (No. 2) can sour red cherries
    3/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Mix flour, baking powder, salt, shortening, 1 cup sugar, egg and vanilla.
    Spread in greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Bring cherries and sugar to boil.
    Spread carefully over cake.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
