My Best Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. baking molasses
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream the shortening and sugar.
Add beaten egg and molasses, then the dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
Add hot water last and beat until smooth.
The batter is soft, but it makes a fine cake.
Bake in greased pan for 35 minutes at 350\u00b0. Makes 15 generous servings.
