Hard Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cake fresh or 1 pkg. dry yeast
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 egg whites, beaten stiff
    1 c. lukewarm water
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    4 c. flour
Preparation
    Soften yeast with 1/4 cup lukewarm water; add remaining water. Add sugar and shortening.
    Add 1 cup flour; beat well.
    Add yeast and egg whites; mix through.
    Add remaining flour and salt to make soft dough.
    Rise once; punch down and let rise again.
    Brush with egg yolk diluted with water.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
