Chicken Adobo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 chickens (about 2 1/4 lb. each)
    1/2 c. cooking oil
    6 cloves garlic, minced
    2/3 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    6 whole peppercorns
    2 bay leaves
    1/2 c. soy sauce
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. vinegar
    2/3 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Cut chicken into pieces.
    Brown chicken in the cooking oil. Add garlic, salt, pepper, water, peppercorns, bay leaves, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar.
    Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour or until chicken is tender, stirring frequently.
    Remove bay leaves and peppercorns.
    Serve with cooked rice.
