Chocolate Fudge Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 (2 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
    1 egg
    1 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. water
    1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
    9 walnut halves
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and cooled chocolate. Add egg, well beaten. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beating after each addition. Spread batter in greased and lightly floured 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces. Arrange walnut halves over top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 about 30 minutes or until cake springs back when touched in center. Cool in pan.
