Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dates
    2 tsp. soda
    2 c. boiling water
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter or margarine
    4 eggs
    3 c. flour
    2 c. chopped pecans
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cut up dates and sprinkle with soda.
    Cover with boiling water.
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs, well beaten.
    Add flour and salt and stir to smooth mixture.
    Stir in dates, water and nuts.
    Pour into slightly greased tube pan.
    Bake in a slow 300\u00b0 oven for 1 hour until golden brown and leaves side of pan.
