New Year'S Eve Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/2 c. fresh lemon juice
    1 bottle chilled carbonated water
    1/2 c. fresh lime juice
    1/2 c. fresh orange juice
    2 c. fresh grapefruit juice
    1 1/2 qt. Riesling wine
Preparation
    Combine sugar with water and lemon juice; bring to boil for 1 minute.
    Cool, add carbonated water and stir in lime, orange and grapefruit juice.
    Pour into punch bowl over ice.
    Add wine. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.
    Makes about 1 gallon.
