Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 cukes
    8 onions
    1/2 c. salt
    enough water to cover
    5 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Mix cukes, onions and salt; add enough water to cover.
    Soak 3 to 4 hours.
    Drain cukes.
    Combine vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, turmeric, celery seed and cloves.
    Boil 5 minutes.
    Add cukes to liquid and reheat.
    Do not boil.
    Pack in hot jars.
