Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    5 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Melt 1 cup shortening in saucepan.
    Add 1/2 cup molasses, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup buttermilk.
    Warm over medium heat, then remove to cool.
    Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
