Doris' Lemon Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    medium size angel food cake (if using large cake, double the recipe)
    6 egg yolks
    1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
    1/2 c. lemon juice
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 pkg. Knox gelatine
    1/4 c. cold water
    6 egg whites
    3/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Beat the 6 egg yolks until light; add grated lemon rind, lemon juice and sugar.
    Cook in double boiler, stirring constantly, until thickened.
    Soak gelatine in cold water.
    Add to custard and let cool.
    In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff.
    Gradually add the sugar.
    Fold custard in.
