Dessert Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sifted flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 egg, beaten
    1 Tbsp. milk
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter.
    Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
    Mix until moistened. Bring prepared dessert sauce recipe to a boil.
    Drop dumpling mixture into boiling sauce, making 8 dumplings.
    Cover; reduce heat to low; cook for 20 minutes.
    Do not remove cover for cooking period.
    Spoon 2 dumplings apiece into serving dishes, along with a generous helping of warm sauce.
    Top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
    Makes 4 servings.
