Sesame Seed Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sesame seed
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. dark corn syrup
    1/4 c. water
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Toast sesame seed on a large baking sheet at 350\u00b0 for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
    Set aside.
    Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and butter in a 2-quart saucepan.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat and cook without stirring until mixture reaches the hard crack stage (300\u00b0 on the candy thermometer).
    Remove from heat; stir in sesame seed and soda.
    Pour onto a greased surface and spread evenly to about 1/8-inch thickness.
    Cool.
    Break into pieces.
    Yield:
    About 1 1/2 pounds.
