Cream Pie (With Variations) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 baked 9-inch pie shell
2 T margarine
1/3 c sugar
1/2 t vanilla
2/3 c sugar
3 eggs whites
1/4 t salt
1/2 t cream of tartar
2 c milk
6 T sugar
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
Preparation

Mix flour, 2/3 c sugar and salt; gradually add milk.
Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
Add small amount of hot mixture to egg yolks; stir into remaining hot mixture. Cook 2 minutes. Add margarine and vanilla.
Cool.
Pour into pie shell. Spread with meringue made by beating egg whites and cream of tarter until stiff, then beating in 6 T sugar, 1 T at a time. Bake in a 350 F oven 12-15 minutes.
