Date Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
32 dates, cut in pieces
1 c. water
1 1/2 c. flour
1 3/4 c. dry rolled oats
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. Crisco
Preparation

Cook brown sugar, dates and water until thick.
Mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, baking powder and Crisco. Press firmly into bottom of square cake pan 1/2 of the oat mixture. Pour date mixture on top and cover with remainder of the oat mixture and pack down lightly.
Bake 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Cool and cut into bars.
