Ingredients

1 c. grated carrots
1 c. grated Irish potatoes
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. chopped suet
1/4 c. butter
1 c. raisins
1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 c. boiling water
Preparation

Mix all thoroughly, then add soda dissolved in the boiling water.
Add 2 cups sifted flour.
Steam 3 hours in greased mould, coffee cans or pint jars.
Serve steaming hot.
Any desired spices may be used.
Serve with hard sauce flavored with any desired flavoring.
