Black-Eyed Pea Jambalaya - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. bacon (optional)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 can sliced jalapeno peppers
    1 lb. ground chuck
    1 lb. ground pork
    1/2 tsp. Lea & Perrins steak sauce
    2 c. rice
    2 cans black-eyed peas
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Fry bacon; remove from pan or use bacon grease to saute onion. Add meat, steak sauce, salt, pepper and peppers.
    When meat is cooked, add raw rice.
    Simmer until rice begins to fry.
    Drain liquid from peas.
    Add water to get 2 1/2 cups of liquid.
    Add liquid; cover and cook 40 minutes (until rice is tender).
    Add peas and mix well.
    Simmer another 20 minutes.
