Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. white syrup
1 c. nuts
Preparation

Add soda to milk.
Let stand for at least 5 minutes.
To this, add sugar and syrup.
Cook until it reaches the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and cool until lukewarm.
Add vanilla and nuts. Beat until it begins to thicken and loses its gloss and holds its shape.
Pour into buttered pan or dish.
Cut with set.
