Black Bottom Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 c. milk, scalded
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chocolate chips
    1 pkg. gelatin
    1/4 c. cold water
    grated chocolate (unsweetened, as desired)
    1 baked pie shell
Preparation
    Separate eggs.
    Beat egg yolks well.
    Add to hot milk, 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch.
    Cook until thickened in double boiler. Divide mixture in half.
    To first half, add 1 cup chocolate chips while hot.
    When chocolate chips are dissolved, pour into baked pie shell.
    Add to 2nd half of mixture, gelatin that has been dissolved in 1/4 cup cold water.
    Fold well beaten egg whites with 1/2 cup sugar.
    Pour this mixture over chocolate mixture filling in pie shell.
    Sprinkle with grated unsweetened chocolate.
    Chill and serve.
    Have pie shell cooked and cooled before starting pie.
