Coconut Brown Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. Post Grape-Nuts cereal
    1 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    3/4 c. light brown sugar
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
Preparation
    Combine cereal and boiling water and set aside 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Sift flour with baking soda and baking powder.
    Combine shortening, sugar and vanilla; beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
    Add eggs; beat 1 minute longer.
    Add dry ingredients and cereal.
    Beat 1 1/2 minutes.
    Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Spread topping on cake. Broil until brown.
